So I open up ep+3 to 8 with ATs at a 10 handed, and the only caller I get is the biggest shark at the table. My image is pretty nitty. This guy is in the small blind, so there's 17 in the pot.

The board comes 8h9dTd, giving me the flush draw. Immediately, this guy lets out a 22 bet. Somethings a little fishy, because being a shark, why is he trying to scare me away? He could be trying to play a pair on the flop, or a straight draw trying to scare away the flush draw. So, I think to myself, either I'm calling or raising. If I raise, I'd need to go at least double what he put in, and that's almost half my stack at that point. Might as well go all in.

So I do so.

Thoughts?

I assume you have TPTK + NFD? Cus you wrote the flop wrong I think.
No clue what you mean with villain being a shark, he seems fishy and fish almost always donk with weak so just call and let him spew it off on later streets. (call/call/shove)
But I think shoving is fine too.. it depends on the villain but I think it's hard to misplay your hand unless you fold (calling, shoving, minraising are all fine here imo)

this is 100% fine
are you 100 deep?, i usually perfer putting in an almost min raise to induce a spazzshove, also he may flat your min raise with dominated hands very often (and peel brick turns as well), where he may not flat a shove. Your also gonna get a lot of spots where he peels flop and fold turn

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

i don't think this thread belongs in mid stakes but that's just me.

very standard ship in with top pair + nut flush draw... you have the nuts.

"biggest shark flats OOP vs an 8 bb open..." sounds like this guy isn't a shark at all.

did you get the suits wrong? because you can't have a flush draw on 8h9dTd with ATs

I probably messed up, but I had TPTK with NFD. So the T on the flop is actually the heart while the 8 is a diamond.

you're going to see his entire range here from JT QT 89 T9 etc, its still a real easy ship though with the nfd.

this hand is much more interesting without nfd.

poker is soooo much easier when you flop setsLast edit: 25/06/2012 14:17
