Big Quake in Mexico, 7.6 - Page 2

back in 99 when the 5.9 earthquake happened my house took some serious damage. I lived right in the epicenter of that thing -_-
So many buildings left and right where one with the ground. I still get over-alarmed when I'm on a boat and the engines are suddenly on or when I hear a sound vaguely similar to the one earthquakes do =P

I was on the 27th floor in my LA apartment when the earthquake happened in Baja, Mexico, the whole building started squeaking and the floor started to move like I was on a boat.

Is there any data to show that there have been a lot more earthquakes than usual?

Or could it just be that since the internet has grown so big that we're all connected now and whenever one happens everyone knows about it.

I mean 10 years ago an earthquake happens in Mexico and I probably would never even know about it.

Looked up the Earthquake cycle thing and this link indicates that major (7 and up) earthquakes actually happen on about every 25 days on average:

Not sure about number of earthquakes increasing though.

there was the official USA website dealing with recording earthquakes, I guess it was USGS that had stats about the increasing EQs year by year and you could clearly see a definite uprise recently.

R_I, yeah there may be all kinds of patterns but they wouldn't exclude each other. Not that I am saying that there is a 188-day cycle but it's a possibility until proven wrong. On another note, I just watched a monkey using a frog's mouth as an artificial vagina, masturbating. I don't think a 9.0 EQ would amaze me after what I just witnessed. Poor Kurmit. Just look at this and tell me what you would prefer - being the frog or being on 27th floor during a 9.0 EQ.
