Yes. First showdown. But does it really matter that much.
Why not again?
From what I've seen in Isildur's NLHE games Haxton is one that actually seems to have an edge against him. |

i like isldurs br management style. he will eventually end up the richest with this style imo.
Also isildur has a positive winrate over 600+k hands in omaha vs the worlds best omaha players on his ptr, (combining stars and fulltilt hands) Dunno why people say he sucks at omaha, but i guess 600k hands isn't a huge sample. |

Which is weird, it seems like Isildur is winning this session, I suppose Haxton is grinding away at the mid-sized pots. |

lol u guys spoke a bit soon, whole thing literally came down to the last 2 hands. one ike got stacked for a bi in a massive massive cooler, and the other he won a mid sized pot without showdown on the flop after 4betting pre with nearly 400bb stacks to start the hand. Still held his narrow lead by the narrowest of margins... gg ike. |

Doesn't seem like they do, though Isildur clearly adjusted his game when he was down, but Ike didn't seem to care about playing big pots when he had it locked up at the end.
I think its possible Isildur gets a bonus if he wins as part of his sponsorship deal while Ike gets nothing. |

My guess is that isil had side bets on himself...
Anyway, really nice match. Superstar showdown was a very nice invention by stars. Looking forward to isil vs Kanu7 on sunday. |

before the first one I was sure they would get an extra $150k from PS, but seems like they don't since there's nothing anywhere about that
seems super pointless, they should be forced to sidebet $100k or smth |

But this would be nittier, right ?
edit : I meant, in this case, by the end, Ike could have played it a bit nittier in order to secure the win. |

That's how they should play SC2 Finals as well, keep playing till one player has won 5 more games than the other one, and they just keep at it.

I think its fine, Haaxton's hand looks like what it is with the pot control line, Isi can overbet the Th like this for value and get paid, and flatting a minraise pf there could be lots of Ah9x Ah8x and lower hands in his range. |

These scheduled matches seem to be perfect for isildur. They keep him from playing too long sessions and too many tables.
Unfortunately it will probably be really hard for him to get any NL action now... I mean it's quite possible that isil just ran good, but it really looked like he had an edge on Haxton, and that should scare people away. |

I thought that getting 6mil off Dwan already should scare people off...
I'm really surprised Ike thought he had an edge, especially since they played 50/100 showdown not so long ago. |

Yes of course! My nickname is a short form of Ba´alzamon from the books, i also nicked -Ba`alzamon- in brood war for like 6 years (if you played it as most here did).
Actually probably just read halfway thru Wheel of Times, it started of really great but became a bit slow towards book ~10 (swedish version). I may finish them one day, we will see. |

^ That was 2009 yo. People forget, people think other peoples NL games must be rusty since they play so much PLO etc...
Ike won both previous showdowns though, right? Not that surprising if he thought he had an edge... |

Cool, thought it must be. Never played brood war though.
I highly recommend finishing WoT. I know the books in the middle of the series are kinda slow, but books 11-13 (and probably 14 which isn't finished yet) in the english version are great. It's a shame Jordan died before he could finish the series, but Sanderson is doing a good job. |

i dunno these show matches are kinda silly if it was true HU skill. a good player might realize hes lost the momentum and thus not +EV at that time to play or very marginal at best. and decide to quit. But getting yourself locked into something like this ends up being silly |

im just guessing here, but isildur has been at a severe disadvantage in a lot of his matches. It's really hard to defend the crown when you have 10 people studying your game, but your only one person that has to divide their study time over all 10 of your opponents. ike is now playing big enough $$$ that isildur can actually be bothered to prepare for his matches. |
