-on a company already sinking, meh. plus some of the $170 mil lost was money for "promotional programs" and no one ever calculated it or said what damage was, it was just sony complaining they had lost money.

Anonymous started out as having potential to be a big movement or important, but they got cocky, gabby, and whory. They are obsessed with this Guy Fawkes V for Vendetta crap, probably just because of the movie, not the fucking comic book.

Yes, that is what I was asserting.

That the opposition to SOPA started on Reddit.

(No, I was actually asserting that the shame campaign of GoDaddy for their support of SOPA started on Reddit, which it did, which you said was false)

Line 3 from You, you idiot - Thanks to reddit? thanks to wikipedia, google etc and all the combined effort, effort started by Anon.

You really just don't get it do you? You post ridiculous shit about every single subject in the world and think you're never wrong,
like someone said in a previous thread here: "LOL Baal is dead wrong and just ignores it".

This is what you do, whether or not you realize it consciously or not is a different question all together, but I think it
would be mean of me, and this community as a whole, not to give you a reality check every once in a while.

you replied to ONE point with an assertion with no sources and ignored the rest

So anyone is allowed to say retarded shit as long as they pile non-frivolous things in its immediate surroundings?

you havent proved me wrong on anything lol wtf why do you claim BS if you cant even debunk it?

- Sony wasnt sinking and the attacks did cause multi million dollar losses, multimillion losses do not count as a big hit.. ok
- Even if they didnt announce the go-daddt thing they contributed at it hard, they are not even separate entities in its userbase.
- It seems that you need to read the Strafor leak cliff notes, google it you seem good at it.
- Even parliment memebers used guy guy fawkes mask, but they didnt even had to be ratified if they were instantly rejected what a moronic argument

Anyway i think we are in the same page in regards of the movment power or future again as i said, it was doomed to fail

defacing websites and ddos attacks are so 1990s and script kiddieish. the leaks info was some sick shit though, they should keep doing that to keep these old bastards in government on their toes all the time.

Wait so you can't even read? You asked for the source, I linked you directly to the source.

The Anti-GoDaddy movement that forced GoDaddy to withdraw their support of SOPA and lost them thousands and thousands of domains
was not at all in any way related to Anonymous like you said - twice.

"- Go-Daddy lost hundreds of thousands of accounts overnight and had a huge impact in its stocks"
"- Thanks to reddit? thanks to wikipedia, google etc and all the combined effort, effort started by Anon."

The effort was started by that single reddit user who brought this to the attention of the Reddit community.
How could you be any more wrong and how could I have proved it any more concisely? Do tell me that Baal.

As usual, the most vocal tend to be the least accomplished. It is not hard to gauge one's intelligence and discipline through their verbal output; the script-kiddie insult here is well founded and proper.

The "real hackers" you want to know about are a curious breed, they are more often than not autodidacts who have a vision of something, and means to make it happen. In this case, the "means" is a computer. At first, you tackle easier problems that you wish to solve -- you do this by "hacking", as in, figuring out what action causes the reaction you want. This is tedious process of continuous problem-solving. As you continue, you gain more and more experience from the inner workings of different computer architectures. You begin to create your own tools to solve repeating problems to save time, and create your own style. These tools are are sometimes distributed, and those who only use the tools made by others are referred as "script-kiddies" -- they also tend to be the most vocal group, as they try to compensate incompetence by making a lot of noise regarding their "feats".

It is curiosity, at first, that motivates the young hacker. As with all expertise, you need to test your limits. For this, "hackers" have different ways to test themselves. Some make it a game for themselves to test their skills against other experts. This often involves breaching different levels of security put up by other coders, or fellow hackers; The breed that does this is often referred as "black hats" and they are often involved in what is at times found illegal by the rule of law. Others are content with creating more complex programs for their own or collective use, and they tend to test themselves within the legal framework; You can find this breed emerging within the demo-scene, indie gaming-scene, open-source, indie-utility-program-scene etc.

As the young hacker grows older, they tend to choose a road according to their moral principles-- some psychopaths and those of more anti-authority, defiant or nonconformist nature may choose to be black-hats, and use their skills to somewhat dubious ends. Others, often referred as "white hats" use their skills for computer-security purposes, to build more resilient architecture for large companies, join a computer-security company (antivirus companies are a good hub for these), etc. Then there's the caste of undefined gray hats, who often find themselves working within whatever CS-related field they find interesting. They also tend to form companies themselves and act as consultants.

The most common unifying factor is being self-learned (and group-learned). The skill-set of even low-level hackers often go far beyond the scope that is offered within standard computer-science degree framework, however they are somewhat complimentary, and give a hacker the sometimes needed formal qualifications.

You don't find the "real hackers", they either find you, or you stumble upon them through common interests and activities.

I am not young enough to know everything.

-4 yrs of straight $1+ bil losses, i'm callin that sinkin right now. Plus vita is terrible for them.
-u can't prove anon isn't part of godaddys userbase. Sabu owned a fucking website on godaddy unless i'm misreading the info given + Show Spoiler +

-some of the stratfor leaks are interesting, but I fail to see how they have shown to have damaged the company
-The main country of protests and action, Poland, signed acta despite the protests.

@wobbly..they have actually probably helped accelerate government internet restrictions in many instances...kinda ironic

I know a network administrator here in Iceland who does nothing all day but probe others' websites
for vulnerabilities and alert the website managers (Don't tell his employer though. )

Not even close to half of all white hats are employed at it is my point.
