I don't really care for the new Spartacus but I thought he was one of the least interesting characters on the show anyway. The first episode was pretty slow but they were just bridging the gap between season 1 and now and setting the season up, so it should pick up. When Spartacus, Crixus, Gannicus, and Oenomaus all get together it should be sick.

Season 1 "Blood and sand" was starting out slow but became absolutely brilliant from episode 5+ to end
Season 2 Gods of the Arena was good but not as good as 5-X episodes of previous season

have not watched season 3 yet but thet picture above makes me kinda want to fap

Beginning of blood and sand they also did this stupid slow motion thing and then i thought they understood it was annoying and stopped it for good...

i felt extremely disappointed when it seemed like that one character (long haired dude) was gonna die, so glad they didn't kill him off, he has so much potential. the ending was great!

I dont like the new season at all.

Fight scenes are dull and seems like they are same every episode, to the point I'm going to start keeping them. New Spartacus doesnt seem as badass as old one even in half, not even comparable to Gannicus. It seems the season is based only on showing tits and gore scenes, and they are trying to reach new low of pointless disgusting gore allowed on regular air time in television. Latest episode reminded me more of "Hostel" then Spartacus from previous seasons.

The mutilating was very disturbing :x

Still feel the fight scenes are a big miss match, the super slow motion blood spread is cool, but that's like 8% of the fighting, and the rest seem so shitty, unrealistic and blerk.

I like all the titties n stuff though, so I'm not too negative.

Would love if they just made the fighting x7 as good, then I'd not complain at all, maybe.

Ps, why can't they just have small propper porn scenes? it's really boring when they keep pretending it's going to be cool, and it's just blueball shit. Why I don't give this series more than 5 or 6 out of 10.

idk so far season 1 was way better for many reasons (actors fights etc). However i would expect next episode to have some epicness (if they do it right, the arena fight of crixus/onemicus/other guy could own).

i don't understand what's up with the slow motion BS.

I remember first time i heard of spartacus it seemed like a great show and i convinced my GF to watch it with me. At first my gf said "wtf is this bullshit ur making us watch" and i couldn't disagree, the slow motion made it look like a bs series. Then after 3 or 4 episode they stopped it and the show became really good. they only used it occasionnally to end fights (for example, the fight against theokoles was done in the right way the whole fight but when spartacus killed theo at the end they had to slow motion it, but it was ok).

But now they do it all the fucking time =/

i miss the old arena fights that were very well done and actually made sense, not just spartaccus vs a bunch of useless romans in slow motion =/

I thought the last couple episodes weren't so great but this last one was fantastic.

yeah.. i was kinda getting disappointed with the show until last episode. storyline was going way too slow. its finally starting to pick up. also the new spartacus actor needs to hit the gym more.

lol these effects when arena fell down.

I don't really mind slow motion or ridiculous fake blood splatters (kind of a series' hallmark), but effects on wounds, especially when swords or spears pierce through the body have all been luckluster for me, and bad effects continue with the fall of the arena. Epic fight, decent story developments and suddenly hilarious scene where part of the arena caves in and people shoot down at huge velocities like in a cartoon (think Will E. Coyote when he realizes he has no ground below him). Was this purposely sped up to cover low budget rendered bodies? Also - cool fire bro.

Last scene finally gives promise to some good story arcs, I was really taken back when Gannicus showed up for the execution, which was saved for a while by Crixus stating what everyone must have been thinking - why the fuck is this guy here? Hopefully it won't turn into writers hiding terrible plot construct aimed at bringing known face back by blatantly pointing it out. On same bad note, wtf is Ashur thinking? His actions don't seem to make much sense for now or am I missing something?

Well it was like 7/10 okayish but not really good for the first 4 episodes
Episode 5 had some good epicness in it 8,5/10

but they still did much better in Blood and Sand Episode 5-13
So there is hope.

Yes, this season is definitely going like season 1. First few episodes sucked, but rapidly picking up to expectations, ep 5 was fantastic, and the first time I accepted the new spartacus actor. I think he can pull this off, he's just gotta find his rhythm.

Im disgusted, ep 6 was fucking terrible. I don't think I'm interested in any story arc at this point - Crixus/Navia was painful to watch and her don't touch me into "I want you to teach" etc not really believable, Ashur creating an evil team of gladiators is just cheap and nowhere near the real potential of situation between him, Glaber and Lucretia. Interesting developments are being thrown out to bank on shock value (suddenly - rape and murder scenes), and even then they are not even trying to make them that good - was the blonde slut really just good enough to induce a bad theatrical fight between two main characters, and to die as a whore turned thief? Saving grace might have been Gannicus, but apart from having few good lines and general cool-headed approach (much needed imo) he plays a secondary role to Spartacus and his great conflict with Oenomaus was simply shrugged off.

Also, female cast is continually degrading in nice tits and ass shown department, and we get to see some "nice" fetishes like really fat whores every single episode. Why?

only the violence is kinda of the hook now. (I mean spartacus was always violent but this episode was just so violent that it probably will never be allowed to air in germany ever)
I guess that was some of the most brutal stuff i have ever seen

It's a little cool, cos they keep trying to "push" it, by showing more bizarre sex, gore scenes than the previous episode. So was talking in a low voice to myself right before he did that "chop sword" up and slice the front of his head off, and his brain fell out 5 sec later thingy. Made me lol!

The ending was awesome, with that Garnicus Gannicus or how you spell it, massacrating everything.

I am wondering why so many of u claim to see bizarre sex scenes ?
In my opinion there were more sex scenes in blood and sand than there are in Vengeance.
The vilolence definitely increased but the sex itself decreased in frequency from my point of view

I seriously love this show. Loved the first season, loved the prequel and I love "Vengeance". I adapted to new Spartacus insta in first episode. He is doing good job. With Andy it obv be somewhere different (more epic), but this one is pretty cool aswell.

Vengeance by far is great, Spartacus is the only TV series I keep regularly at the moment.

Still have the newest episode left to watch. Cant wait!

Hm i thought Vengeance was a bit of a dissapointment overall.
Episode 10 especially was a waste of opportunities to make it legendary epic
From my point of view it was a mixture of brilliance and pure B-movie crap. 7/10

Overall Blood and Sand 9/10 (7/10 at start but 10/10 at the last episodes)
Gods of the Arena 8,5/10 (all kinda equal 8,5)
Vengeance 7/10 There were a few brilliant episodes like 7, 8 and two good episodes 5 ,9 but rest was bad.

Loved the episode, the season, and the whole series.

The new Spartacus grew on me a lot. The role of Spartacus changed completely between Blood and Sand and Vengeance, and I think the new guy may have actually been better suited for the new role.

Yeah you should probably spoiler this. I was disappointed in the Oenomaus death too. Such a great character. It seems like the writers were just trying to kill off characters to prove they had the balls to kill off characters. I don't mind having the characters appear much more mortal but shit knock someone reasonable off every episode rather than waiting till the end and killing a bunch stupidly.

Why would he give the woman 9 chances before deciding to let her stab him in the nuts, then slit his throat, that's even more weird.

Maybe stab her, so she's still alive, so everyone will run and help her, while they all occupied, make a run for it.

Or pretend she was fighting him back and back, and then when he's all the way at the back, stab her then run for it.

Or throw her weapon away, wound her, stab her leg some, and slap her some, then make a deal, her life for his freedom.

All those choices seem a lot better that what he decided.

Read only the first few posts of this thread because I just watched the first episode tonight (been waiting for season to finish so I can marathon it, nomtombot?) and I thought it was fucking good. I like the new guy playing Spartacus and I think he does a great job playing him. I even think he has the potential to be better than Andy Whitfield by season's end.

I don't know, I went in with the mindset of watching a bloody, action-filled series with a little drama thrown in and a sprinkle of funny dialogue on top and that's what I get. I didn't have a feeling that the premier of this season was any different than the other two; it felt like Spartacus to me :D.

Whereas I watch The Walking Dead thinking it's going to be awesome and I get a turdfest with shit icing.

Anyways, finished the season. Was good as fuck. 9.5/10. I got what I expected from a show like this . And I like the new actor better than the old actor. He delivers his lines a lot better. Only problem is: he's built like a 12-year-old vegetarian girl. Hopefully by next season he'll start juicing and look like a gladiator, nomtombot?

Not that i dont like the new actor, i'm glad i got used to him, but i think Tom Hardy from the MMA movie Warrior, would be a much better replacement for Andy Whitfield.
I loved all seasons of this series.

The new guy really does look a lot like Andy Whitfield. He probably got the role on very short notice and didn't have time to bulk up.
