Ket makes final table at robbed EPT Berlin!

While the poker was exciting enough to watch, the most talked about event of the day was not related to it at all. An armed robbery took place at the Grand Hyatt while the Main Event took place. <break>Six men, armed with Kalashnikovs and hand grenades raided the hotel and managed to get away with around €800,000. A few security guards suffered minor injuries, but fortunately there were no serious injuries.

This also had its effect on the poker tables. Panic struck the tables and players were running away when this all happened. The staff later explained what happened, and after a short break to sort everything out, including the chips that were all over the tables, play resumed. Amongst those still in was LiquidPoker's Ketul "Ket" Nathwani. He came into day 4 with the 4th biggest stack, and managed to do well with it as he played aggressive and put a lot of pressure on his opponents.

After an unsuccessful bluff against the 2 pair of Nico Behling, a crucial coinflip for Ket's life followed. Fortunately, his pocket sixes held up against the AQo of Alfonso Amendola and he was on a roll again. The best bluff of the day was also by Ket, as stated in the live updates:

10.40pm: Micky Mouse and the bluff
In the last hand before the break Ketul Nathwani bluffed Alfonso Amendola off a pot. Nathwani raised pre-flop from the cut-off and was called by the Amendola from the big blind. Both checked the flop before Amendola check-called a 160,000 bet on the turn. The river came and Nathwani bet 460,000 when checked to him. Amendola took a long time to think and then asked his opponent "Will you show if I fold?"

"I'll tell you what I'll do," Nathwani replied. "I'll toss a coin and if you call it right I'll show."

The Italian duly folded and handed Nathwani a coin. "Do you want Micky Mouse or the 1?" asked Nathwani. He chose Micky Mouse and that's what fell when the coin was tossed. Nethwani opened for king-high and headed off for break with a smile on his face.


Another battle against shortstack Alfonso Amendelo was won, as Ket manages to hit a 4 with his pocket 4's to beat the queens of the Italian, and when the German Norman Kastner gets it all-in with AQo against the AKo of Marc Inizan and fails to improve, the final table is set, and Ket is on it!

Play resumed about an hour ago, and we already saw 3 players getting knocked out: Nico Behling lost a coinflip to finish 8th, Marko Neumann finished 7th and Marcel Koller got knocked out in 6th place as his AQ was no good against the QQ of Ilari Tahkokallio. 5 players still remain and Ket is one of the shorter stacks, yet with over 25 big blinds he still has a lot of room to play.
