<img src="http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/e00a9.antonkus.jpg" align="right" style="margin:5px; border:1px solid black;">Ever since Isildur1 came out of nowhere to challenge regulars of the high stakes games online, people expected this to happen. Isildur1 has been having scary success against players such as Durrr, Brian Townsend, Cole SOuth, OMGClayAiken and Patrik Antonius. Well, only until yesterday for this last one. Yesterday, when Isildur1 and Patrik Antonius were playing 2 tables of $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha, the biggest pot in the history of online poker was played.

By the start of the hand, both players were deep-stacked, with over $400,000 each. Surprisingly, this huge pot didn't start with a 3bet. A simple raise followed by a call was enough to start the action. Let's take a look at the players' hands when the big hand started:

Isildur1: AsKsQdTh
Antonius: AhQc9s6h

Isildur1 raised to $3,000 and Antonius flat-called. The flop came 5h7hQs and tied the hands, but gave a gutshot straight draw and nut flush draw to Antonius. PA check-raised Isildur1's continuation bet to $21,000, Isildur1 called. THe turn was an Ad, which kept the hand as a tie. Antonius led with $48,000 and Isildur1 raised to $192,000, having almost half of his huge stack in the pot. Antonius moved all-in for $415,479 and Isildur1 made the call, creating the biggest pot in the history of online poker, an $878,958.50 monster! Up to that moment the whole thing was looking like it could finish in a tie, but the poker gods decided to pick a winner. The river was exactly one of the four cards Antonius needed to complete his gutshot straight, the 8d, and the monstrous pot went to his hands.

This, apart from being THE one, was just one of the over 2,000 hands Isildur1 and Patrik Antonius played yesterday. The result of the session was a thunderous surplus of $2.7 million to Patrik Antonius. We didn't look for official numbers, but people believe this is the worst losing day in online poker history. We don't know how Isildur will react to such a beating after getting used to devastate his opponents, but it seems likely that the action will continue strongly in high stakes games. Soon Liquid Poker will post a complete review of the recent happenings in high stakes poker.

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhANLast edit: 18/11/2009 05:02

Yeah don't understand the pic either.. I believe the 1M+ pot was played live, so the 800k is the biggest online, and that's a lot oO
