Eastgate vs Demidov - The Rematch

The champion and runner-up of the past edition of the WSOP Main Event are going to face off once again in a unique heads-up match! As opposed to in their Main Event final, this time Peter Eastgate and Ivan Demidov won't dispute any money, as the $10,000 involved will go to charity. The money will go the institution chosen by the winner of the match. Eastgate has chosen the Danish Refugee Council, while Demidov has chosen to help The Hospice Charity Fund “Vera” INN.

This match will actually recreate the conditions of that Main Event heads-up. This means both Eastgate and Demidov will have the exact same amount of chips as they had in last year's decision, and Eastgate will be favored by starting with a 1.4 to 1 chip advantage. The blinds will be set at 120,000/240,000, with a 30,000 running ante. Peter Eastgate was crowned the 2008 WSOP Main Event champion after a 104-hand heads-up match in their famous encounter last year.

PokerStars users will also benefit from this event. This is how it will work: there will be two $11 tournaments, in which players can "support" the player they think will win by registering in one of them. One tournament will be for players that think Eastgate will win, and the other for people that think Demidov will win. The winner's tournament will have $10,000 added to its prizepool.

The fan tournaments will take place on June 26 at 14h15 ET at PokerStars and will be followed by "Eastgate vs Demidov", which will happen on the same day, at 18h00 ET.

sounds weird that the fans tournament will take place first having the 10k added only AFTERwards according to the result of the clash. how the heck is this gonna work is beyond me.

They just send $100 to the top 100 players of one of the tournaments within 24 hours they say. Shouldnt be that hard, even if they'd do it manually

the fan tournaments wont be heads-up tournaments, but regular tournaments
