The series are set to bring top poker action to some of the most beautiful locations in Italy. <break>The Italian Poker Tour will kick off in the Italian Riviera city San Remo from 1-7 June, 2009. San Remo has already proven it's a popular place for poker players, as it it hosted a record breaking field at this year's European Poker Tour stop there.
Thanks to the huge success of EPT San Remo and a collaboration with Luca Pagano and Federpoker, it was possible to host this series sponsored by PokerStars.it. The IPT final tables will be broadcast on "Poker1Mania" on the Italian National TV channel, Italia 1. This brings a lot of exposure for the already vastly expanding game of poker in Italy. It means yet another big step for the Italians.
There are also satellites running for this event. Players can qualify online via daily satellites at www.pokerstars.it with buy-ins from as little as €5 or 100 FPP's. There is also a €100 buy-in tournament running each night with at least one IPT Sanremo package being awarded and a grand final tournament running on May 29 when at least 10 PokerStars IPT Sanremo packages will be awarded. Players can also take part in a daily live satellite at 9pm from June 1-4 at the Sanremo Casino, with a buy-in of €230+20. Direct buy-in to the tournament is €2,200.
“PokerStars is really happy with the developments in live and online poker in Italy...” said Fabio Angeli Bufalini, Italian Country Manager for PokerStars “...the great success has been registered on PokerStars.it website and the record breaking turnout for the Sanremo leg of the PokerStars Season Five EPT, makes us hopeful that the PokerStars Italian Poker Tour will arouse huge interest in Italy and all over Europe.”
