If we believe the odds at Bodog, the big favorite to win this event is... Phil Hellmuth! The 11-time bracelet winner gets 9:1 odds on the event (where there's no bracelet to be won tho).
As a reminder: World Series of Poker Champions Invitational event is an event where only 27 players were invited, all previous winner of the WSOP Main Event (and thus had the honor to be (former) World Champions). Phil Hellmuth won it in 1989 and has confirmed his participation.
With Hellmuth leading the list of favorites, we have a few players just behind, with 11.5:1 odds. Those players are 2005 WSOP Main Event winner and Team PokerStars Pro member Joe Hachem, 2004 WSOP Main Event Champion Greg Raymer, new Expekt Poker pro and reigning HORSE Championship winner Scotty Nguyen, 2009 Heads-Up Poker Championship winner Huck Seed, 1995 WSOP Main Event victor Dan Harrington, and 10-time bracelet winners Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan.
The current World Champion, Peter Eastgate, was given 13:1 odds on winning the event, even though he is considered to be one of the favorites by many players, just not by Bodog. At 15:1 odds we have Jerry Yang, Jamie Gold, Chris Moneymaker, and Chris Ferguson.
Robert Varkonyi, Brad Daugherty and Tom McEvoy are both going into the event being a 19:1 favorite.
24:1 odds was given to following players: Noel Furlong, Jim Bechtel, Hamid Dastmalchi, Mansour Matloubi, Berry Johnston, and Bobby Baldwin.
At the bottom of the field and coming in at 65:1 is Russ Hamilton, and it's not hard to guess why. Hamilton, who played a major part of super-user scandal on Absolute Poker, and thus damaged the game of poker, is expected not to participate at all. It is said that his participation might be bad for his health, in more than one way...
So... who would you lay your bet on?!

Hellmuth would probably get demolished by Eastgate if they end up in a heads up. But i guess the large public only know Hellmuth and his 11 bracelets and thus think he s the favorite... |
|
| Odds are exactly 50%: it either happens or not | |

Hellmuth is a greatest tournament poker player alive.
Look at all those bracelets he won.
He's a clear favorite. |
