WSOP announces Champions Invitational

What's so special about it? The name already reveals it: the field will consist of only World Series of Poker Main Event champions!

It will be one of the only 4 televised events of this year (the others being the $40,000 Anniversary event, the Ante Up for Africa charity event and of course the Main Event). So you won't be seeing ESPN commentators dabble on about Dimitri Nobles, Ray Romano or Teddy "The Iceman" Munroe, but instead they'll only be focussing on the former champions of Main Events who will fight for the honors that winning this event carries.

With 39 previous editions, and deducting those that have passed away or won the event twice, that leaves 27 potential entrants. 21 of them have already confirmed that they're in. The participation status of Russ Hamiltion, Bobby Baldwin, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Noel Furlong, Mansour Matloubi and Hamid Dastmalchi is yet unknown.

The event will take place starting at 31st of May, and it will be aired on August 4th. The players will fight for a trophy in honor of Jack Binnion and a restored 1970 Corvette.

The first event of the upcoming World Series of Poker starts next Thursday, 28th of May with one of the most exciting events of the series: the $40.000 40th Annual No-Limit Holdem event, and we will see a grand total of 57 events in the upcoming 6-7 weeks!

Unfortunately theyre showing every day of the main event. So its almost a lock that theyll have Noble-esqe luckbox tools running amock on the coverage for the first 3 days.
