Lee is highly respected among the online community for his work at Poker Stars where he performed the same role. After stepping down from that position he became the COO over at CardRunners. After his departure from there the next chapter in Lee's life will be on Cake Poker.

He brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role and will be using this to try and grow Cake Poker into a card room that will shadow the likes of Poker Stars and Full Tilt.

Cake Poker is the flagship room on the Cake Poker Network that now consists of rooms the likes of Doyles Room, Players Only and Red Star Poker. One of the biggest problems reported by players of Cake is poor software. Lee Jones highlighted this as one of the things he will be deeply involved in entering his job.

In a recent interview Lee stated:

In short, we’re emphasizing poker as entertainment. That’s a very different model than Full Tilt, for example. They have a really strong brand message of playing against the pros. Our message is a different one and we think that’s good for us.

Time will tell if Lee can bring Cake Poker up in the ranks to challenge the larger networks. He has the experience and the respect of the online community behind him, so it looks like there are promising things ahead for Cake Poker and its players.

wtf is wrong with stars, why would they let him go

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

He probably just wanted to do something different. More than likely once he made PS very good he kind of started getting bored of his job because there was less to do . If he makes Cake really really good that's going to be sweet for everyone.

Sorry dude he Jason Bourned me. -Johnny Drama

I have high hopes for this. I love the fact that his goal is to do it for the challenge, the challenge of designing the best poker site, not just to make money. A poker site designed for players BY a player and not some guy in a suit. I've been holding off signing up for cake until better RB deals resurface and the site develops into a stronger brand. Hopefully in 6-12 months it will be.

bye nowLast edit: 16/05/2009 13:24

he wont be able to do anything about the software, unless he fires all the programmers and gets new ones

Lee Jones did a good job at stars but last i checked cakepoker software was absolutely horrible. Theres only so far we can go with the 'omg its lee jones' mentality. This is probably the line right here.

What they need to do is make Cake HHs processable by PT and HEM.

Though since they are all about poker as entertainment, it seems like that's unlikely to happen. Who knows though...
