CardPlayer and Bluff Magazine, two of the most important poker sites out there, keep annual rankings that work as a race to see who the players with the best live tournaments results are. The Player of the Year of both lists is John "the Razor" Phan. And it could not be any different: his year was, in one word, Phantastic! John Phan won two WSOP bracelets and also won the WPT Legends of Poker, meaning he won three important tournaments in a single year.
Each site has its own way of computing points for the race, which is why - apart from the very top - the lists look so different. Even though I believe we all agree most of the time these rankings do not mirror reality, they have their place. To add to the significance of the rankings, our very own Elky made it to the top 4 of the lists of both CP and BM. His best results were winning the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and WPT Festa al Lago, making him one of the very few players to have won both EPT and WPT events. Others LPers like Rainkhan and Mig had amazing results during the year, and appear in the rankings as well.

CardPlayer also has an online poker award. In 2007 we saw players like Isaac Baron and Sorel Mizzi in the top of the list. Probably due to the dynamism of online poker, none of the players that were in the top 10 of 2007’s ranking repeated the feat. Take a look:
CardPlayer OPOY:
1st - Alex "AJKHoosier1" Kamberis - 9,424
2nd - Steve "gboro780" Gross - 7,954
3rd - Brian "SNo0oWMAN" Hawkins - 7,264
