Some LPers did really well in the inaugural days of the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic that is taking place at the Bellagio. Despite the tournament having a $15,000 buy-in, almost 500 players showed up and created a prize pool of $7,231,350. The champion will take home $1,538,730 . The tournament has a 6 play-day schedule, so we are pretty much just warming things up. That doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate that some of our guys are rocking the tournament, right?
Talking about the LPers, let's take a look at their chip counts after Days 1A and 1B: 2. Evan Mcniff (FrinkX - 190,375
12. Alexander Veldhuis (Raszi - 140,825
72. Corwin Mackey (Mig - 85,675
74. Daniel Schreiber (Rekrul - 84,050
148. Bertrand Grospellier (Elky - 63,525
258. Corwin Cole (Myth - 38,475
361. Benjamin Straate (Straate - 13,475
368. Thomas Bentham (TJBentham/teej1985 - 12,050
That’s right! Our own FrinkX finished Day 1 in 2nd place while Raszi has the 12th biggest stack. The sickest thing though is four of them start day 2 in the same table: Elky, FrinkX, TJBentham and Straate. Good luck to them!
As usual lots of pros are also playing this tournament. Sorel Mizzi, Erick Lindgren, Adam Levy, Gavin Griffin and Antonio Esfandiari are some of the noteworthy names. Blair Hinkle and Ivan “Soul” Demidov are also playing and trying to survive day 2. If you take a look at the chip counts provided by pokerpages.com, you’ll see that the number of known pros is really impressive. This tournament is really tough, and the “LP table” proves this.
Day 2 is being played at the moment and among the guys already knocked out you'll find such players as Phil Ivey and Daniel Negraneu . We have no info on the current status of the LPers. We have no info ont he current status of the LPers, but we'll make a news post once Day 2 is over.
