Probably the most famous player at the table for the Liquidpoker-community has to be Ivan Demidov. Under the nickname orky)soul he was very talented and successful in games like Starcraft, Warcraft III and Age of Empires 2 and he even represented Russia in the World Cyber Games more than once. The 27-year-old Russian now plays poker under the nickname "hasuling" at PokerStars.

Like all his fame in gaming started online, so did his poker career. Being a fast learner, he studied the game and was quickly able to be successful playing it. His study helped with that as well, as he studied mathematics in Russia. Although Ivan considers himself a math-based pokerplayer, you can't rule out his "soul"reading abilities, which he has developed a lot this year.

While he managed to earn a living with online poker, his live experience is limited. With only 1 small cash (3.5k win in a $200 PLO tournament in 2006) before the 2008 World Series of Poker started, it could go either way. His first decent cash came in event 44 (the $1000 NLHE with rebuys) when he finished in 11th place. Of course, the amount he won was very small, compared to his Main Event final table in his very first WSOP!

Demidov's road to success at WSOP Main Event was no easy one. He said his first day was really hard, but from the second day onwards he caught some hands and maintained an above average chipcount throughout the tournament. Demidov needed some luck to reach the final 9 tho, because at the final day before the final table, he was all-in with 9h9c against TdTc of David "Chino" Rheem for an 18.5 million pot! The board ran Th8h6h4h5h and a decisive hand went to the Russian.

After reaching the final table, Demidov started playing a lot more live events, like most of the available EPT events, but again, it was the World Series of Poker that made his fame. In a record breaking 22-hour final table of the World Series of Poker Europe, he finished third to John Juanda and Stanislav Alekhin to win £344,850 ($543,000) and earning a lot of respect from the fans and pokerplayers alike.

He is now widely regarded as (one of) the best player(s) at this final table and with his stack being the second largest, he is a force to be reckoned with. He will start with 24,400,000 and a lot more experience than what he started with.

Not only was he a WCG representative he was actually also a full fledged pro in Korea, with a 5-5 record, which i believe makes him 5th or so most successful foreigner of all time.
