First woman to take down a WPT title!!

Even though this far, many female players have made it up to the Final Table of a World Poker Tour event, this was the first time one actually managed to take down the title! Furthermore, the winner of the title was an Asian woman (mmm...), Van Nguyen, Men "The Master" Nguyen's wife, who showed that women can also play poker when she steamrolled through the field of 445 pros and celebrities in the WPT Celebrity Invitational at the Commerce Casino. It was more in for her than the title though, as she received $100,000 for her efforts as well as a seat in the $25,000 WPT Championship in April, where she has a shot to the huge prizepool!

Hopefully these recent events are a catalyst in the beginning of a new era for the female poker scene. Van Nguyen's win and Annette's performance are nothing short of impressive, so let us hope it causes a ripple effect as the advantages to this are huge! Besides having eye-candy at the table... Imagine the table filled with emotionally unstable irrational players with a lot of child support to play with! I'm sure all of us have played with the thought of being able to take notes on the menstrual cycles of players and using them to determine whether a game is good at certain days. With the eyes of my soul I can already see a new stat popping up in Poker Tracker!
