NBC Heads Up Championship
Hello folks! After the fairly quick elimination of Daniel "Rekrul" Schreiber in the first round of play, the updates didn't follow so quick. However, here's the final wrap up of the tournament. Rekrul drew T.J. Cloutier in the Spades bracket. Our hero fought bravely, but cards didn't go his way which eventually lead into his elimination in two consequent hands where Rek first lost AJ vs 44 coinflip, followed by another AJ from Dan, up against Cloutier's semi-krablar, K5o. There was a five on the flop and Rekrul didn't improve after that and it was time to say bye bye to our heads up champ. Cloutier then followed by getting eliminated against J.C. Tran on the second round.

Lots of famous pro's battled to make it to the finals and it was no easy task for anyone, not even the two time runner-up Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, who found himself battling of the title once again! He finished as a runner-up in 2006 and 2007 and he was back for more! To make it this far, Jesus had already beaten John Juanda, Gavin Smith, Mike Matusow, Jonathan Little and Phil Ivey. In the final heads up, he faced Andy Bloch who got there after he eliminated Huckleberry Seed in the semi-finals.

So now the question on everybody's lips was "would Jesus get crucified again?" and even the long haired professor must've felt a tiny twist of excitement under that roboticly stable exterior. The format was best of three and the players were ready!

Block started off strong by absolutely devastating Ferguson in the first match. Granted, he did hit some cards and the decisive hands were Ferguson's set vs a turned flush and AK on A99 board against Bloch's 89. However, time for resurrection was at hand as Jesus started the second round strong as his top two held up against a flushdraw. And to finish Bloch off, JJ against a small open-ended straight draw.

In the third match, Bloch found himself asking the big question: "What would Jesus do?" when he was pushed all-in by the man in question on T737 board. Jesus did not reply, so Bloch left it up to chance and decided to toss a coin! "Heads I call, tails I fold", he said as he flipped the coin in the air. It was heads and he called with T4s against Ferguson's pocket Jacks. River was a third 7, effectively crowning Ferguson as the 2008 NBC Heads-Up Champion! Congratulations Chris! Ferguson got $500,000 for his efforts, but Bloch didn't go home empty-handed either as he received a prize equal to half of Ferguson's salary, bringing home $250,000 for his great performance. Cheers!
