What's up folks? It's time for the last update of the EPT Copenhagen in the fall of 2008. The Final Table begun with 8 players competing for the €835k grand prize, but only one was destined to be glorified by this title. Six of these players were European, but ultimately, one of the remaining two Americans, Timothy "Tim" Vance, a 46-year-old contractor from St. Louis, took it down after a cruesome battle.
The final heads up part of the tournament was long and painstaking and what is heard about the match, the opposition - namely: Soren Jensen from Denmark - wasn't exactly acting according to fitting poker etiquette, but I don't have the exact details on this one. In the actual match, Tim Vance quite quickly realized that Soren was playing really tight for a heads up match and adapted accordingly, abusing Soren's tightness by picking a pot after another. Even though he started as a slight dog in chips, he quickly took the leading position. That wasn't the decisive thing though as balance shifted between the players in this match.

Soren lost a big pot (Even though it took a long time for it to finally happen) when Tim raised preflop and got flat called by Soren. Flop came T28 with a diamond draw, Soren checked, Tim fired a bet of 200,000, which was raised then to 400,000 by Soren, only to get flat called by Vance. Turn was the Queen of diamonds and both players checked. The river followed - a Jack of clubs and Soren checked, followed by Vance moved all-in. Soren then called his shove with QTo against a flush and lost a pot. The arguably great Dane was left with 870,000.
After a rather long period of time, they finally got it all-in on the river in the final hand of the tournament when Soren pushed his stack in on the river with the board showing . Vance's comment before the call was "It was nice playing with you, sir", followed by the call. Vince showed the nutflush and took down the title as the champion of EPT Copenhagen 2008. Congratulations Vance!
