It's official - PokerStars Sports Book and sport betting are already in beta phase. After months and months of speculations, PokerStars announced that sports betting platform is already working, and first bets are already done.

Amaya Inc. intended to launch a sports-betting on PokerStars by April 2015 and on March 31 the addition to the beta software went live. Beta tests are available now, afterwards PokerStars will probably roll-out the feature at chosen markets to test it (similar to what happened before: casino games were tested on Spanish market before being introduced to the rest of the world) and if everything goes smoothly - it will go live everywhere.

Official launch for the global market is still at least few months off, as PokerStars commented that it should be completed by the end of 2015.

"The Corporation anticipates PokerStars will launch its beta version of its sports-betting product, available both on the web and in the PS7 client, in certain jurisdictions in the near future, with rollout to other markets across the dot-com network through the next two quarters of 2015," the document from Amaya stated. "The company anticipates launching sports betting on mobile in 2015 as well."
"Going forward, Amaya intends to acquire new customers and gain online gaming market share through the continued expansion of the B2C business in other verticals, including sports betting, casino, social gaming, and daily fantasy sports, which we expect will supplement our current growth plans for our core poker business."

i recently started sport betting and its really fun.

There is however 2 keys:
#1 Use bankroll management, like poker (never bet more than 5% of your BR on a fight, especially not on a underdog)
#2 Have a BR you don't truly care about. For example, my BR is like 200$, its really not a big deal if i end up losing it after a few months (even tho i would rather win ). i can easily replace it if i go broke after a few months.

The problem is people who go crazy with it...

Sure you can spare the money, but are you expecting to be +ev is the question? If not seems like a waste to me, sure I put in the rare bet in a big football (soccer) game sometimes to get some extra excitement but thats it, and I dont expect to be +ev.

My objective is to become +EV at sport betting yes. I essentially see this as a game. During the week i study the weekend's fights and try my best to predict the outcome, then i bet on every single fights, and in the weekend i watch the whole event and get really excited to see if i can make a profit. Even fights with nobodies in it, becomes interesting for me.

However, if for any reasons i end up being -EV, its not like poker where its a big deal. With a 200$ BR, you can generally expect at best to win like 50$ in a month, and at worst to lose like 50$ in a month. Those ammounts does not matter in any ways for me, i have a good full time job with nice salary. However, if after a year i eventually realized i actually do have talent for this and am +EV, maybe i could begin thinking about making signifiant money, but that isn't a priority.

TLDR: The point for me right now is not to make money, its to have fun while develloping a skill which maybe could result in making money one day, but that part isn't the priority.
