Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott has passed away

Just last week it became known that one of Britain’s most successful poker players, Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott, was fighting colon cancer. Yesterday in the evening his relatives reported the worst possible: we are sad to inform you that Dave Ulliott has lost the battle with cancer and passed away.

Ulliott’s passing was confirmed by family on both his Facebook and Twitter pages: “Unfortunately Dad, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott lost his battle with cancer today and died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Thank you for all your support, love the family xxxxxxx.”

He was one of the most recognizable TV poker celebrities after winning the first ever Late Night Poker and a very successful lie tournament player, with over $6.2 million earned, which put him on second place of best earning players from England. He also won both a WPT and World Series of Poker tournaments.

RIP. One of the guys who got me interested in poker back like 11 or 12 years ago when I used to watch Late Night Poker on TV. Loved his autobiography too. Total legend

That sucks we will never forget his flamboyant ring...

I played with him for an entire day in the WSOP back in 2009 and then we partied together at the Palms.....this makes me sad.

When we talked he told me when he was my age (cause I was mid 20s) he said he was a safe cracker.

when was he diagnosed? That was pretty quick tho... pffff.
