PokerStars is forced to start yet another local sub-site due to regulatory changes, and this time it will be one of the biggest European markets that is getting hit with new regulations. Starting from October, United Kingdom players are moving to PokerStars UK.

New law changes are going alive on October 1 (new Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act), and earlier this week PokerStars officially announced what can players from UK expect.

The new rules are going to be as following:
Player pool remains same as now, meaning UK players will not be separated from the rest of the world
Rake will not be increased
Both cash games and rebuy tournaments will have auto-rebuy option removed
Starting from 2015 VIP bonuses will be reduced - this is a direct response from PokerStars for a increased tax the operator will have to pay from October 1st (PokerStars will have to pay 15% gross tax on all profits made from UK players). At the moment, there is no more information on how the system is going to change.

All UK residents will be asked to download and install new software when they log in.

Are UK gambling interests catching up to USA in an attempt to cripple online poker? Or is this a response to something else?

well, if the player does not have to pay taxes, then this is basically country doing it for you, but if player have to pay, then this is double taxation
and this is just really weird "Both cash games and rebuy tournaments will have auto-rebuy option removed"

They're seriously so fucking lucky compared to ours... Our rake increased up to 6-8 times since the existence of the .fr. Not to mention that we couldn't even get to play against the world. And our rakeback didn't really improve at all.
I'm getting sick of this really.

Shin-il : Yeah it was very very very good for me too. Rekrul : YOU MOTHER FUCKING FUCKING SON OF A BITCH

assuming UK players still pay 0 taxes, this is still a pretty good and fair deal

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol
