In just few days, on Wednesday September 10th, at 10 p.m. ET and PT, the famous Discovery Channel will air the pilot episode for the new television poker show called "Underground Poker". The two poker stars behind the show are are going to be players with probably the most experience in such productions: Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak.
Whole series are not really going to focus on a poker game itself, but rather the experience of travelling through different cities looking for underground high stakes poker games. This is how the show is advertised: “Two poker legends and best friends, Phil Laak and Antonio Esfandiari, travel to the Big Easy looking for the perfect game — Cards, gumbo, booze, and voodoo... and a recluse named Neighborscheig.”
“Real poker games, none of the poker is staged," said Esfandiari "We’re finding real games and we’re trying to get in them. There’s a little bit of banter between me and Phil, because you know that’s kind of our characters. At the same time we’re trying to get into these games, so we’re meeting interesting people along the way.”

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN

I enjoyed their online-show that never got picked up by any TV channels. It wasn't an amazing show, but they had/have great chemistry together.

The show used to be hosted on his own website but, it looks like he doesn't have his own website anymore. The show was called "I Bet You." Crazy that it's a 7+ year old show, it doesn't seem that long ago that I watched the videos.
The show could've easily been picked up by the channel that hosts Storage Wars and Pawn Stars. It has the same feeling as those shows, but it came out before those shows, I think.

lol last couple times I seen these two play together Esfandiari seemed genuinely annoyed with Laak. In regards to how good Laak runs against him and Laaks banter.
Also I kind of doubt many high stakes underground games are going to wantcamera's to come in and film them but who knows.

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen
