Germany’s Andre Lettau has won the record-breaking100th EPT Main Event in Barcelona for a life-changing first prize of €794,058 .

The 27-year-old online pro, a well-known figure in the German poker community, was playing his first EPT. A three-way deal with runner-up Sam “buckguy 2200” Phillips, an American PokerStars qualifier, and third-placed Hossein Ensan, also from Germany, gave the lion’s share of the prize to Phillips. The American is a PokerStars SuperNova who has won over $3m in online tournaments and received €1,021,275. Phillips’ achievements include chopping the WCOOP Challenge Sunday Warm-up last December and making two WCCOP final tables, however this is by far his biggest live cash.

Ensan, 50, a recreational player, took a whopping €652,667 for third place after winning his seat in a live satellite for just €1,050. He was already €4,385 up after winning the inaugural €200 Seniors Event at the start of the Festival.

With 1,496 players (and 239 making the money), the €5,300 EPT 11 Barcelona Main Event was the biggest EPT ever held on European soil, dwarfing EPT6 Sanremo when Liv Boeree beat a 1,240-strong field. There were 423 players who qualified online on PokerStars - also a EPT record outside the PCA - and 163 players won their seats in live satellites at Casino Barcelona.

Dutch banker Bram Haemraets, who qualified for just €82, finished ninth for €92,800 while PCA champion and PokerStars-sponsored Polish pro Dominik Panka finished 11th for €77,600. Other notable finishes included Team PokerStars Pro Jan Heitmann (39th for €24,400) and PokerStars Team Online’s Grzegorz Mikielewicz (55th, €20,300)

Results:

    1, Andre Lettau, Germany, €794,058
    2, Sam Phillips, USA, €1,021,275
3, Hossein Ensan, Germany, Live satellite winner, €652,667
    4, Andrea Dato, Italy, € 362,000
    5, Andrey Shatilov, Russia, € 286,600
6, Kiryl Radzivonau, Belarus, PokerStars player, € 224,500
    7, Ji Zhang, Germany, €171,600
8, Slaven Popov, Bulgaria, PokerStars player, € 121,300

EPT100 broke so many records it’s been hard to keep track of them all. The 2,560-strong field in the €1,100 Estrellas Poker Tour main event, won by Matias Ruzzi for €198,550, was the largest live PokerStars freezeout. The €50k Super High Roller, won by American pro Olivier Busquet for €896,434, attracted a record 77 total entries. The €10k EPT High Roller event had a staggering 393 entries, 295 unique players and a prize pool of €3,851,400, with Belarus player Ihar Soika beating Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier heads-up in that event to snag the €747,200 first prize. The inaugural €300 Barcelona Cup, won by Luca Faggioli for €101,000, had 2,095 players making it the fourth largest PokerStars event of all time (after the Beijing Millions, Estrellas main event and Brazil Series of Poker Millions). Women's Events in Season 11 will have a reduced buy-in of €200 and this helped attract a record 102 players. The inaugural Seniors Event, for players aged 50+, had 85 players while Sunday’s €200 Win the Button had 342 players making it the biggest Nightly Turbo in EPT history.
