Russia has officially legalized gambling in two zones, Sochi and Crimea. The decision was just recently announced by the country's Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Kozak.
Dmitry Kozak, during the press conference regarding the matter, explained that the locations chosen for the new casinos will be determined soon: "The issue is being discussed and I think we will need another ten days to decide on the exact location."
However, with that much money on the line, there couldn't be any controversies and the legislation says that in Sochi "the gambling venues can only be established in Olympic facilities that were bank-rolled by private investors."
Meber of Duma’s Economic Policy, Innovation Development and Entrepreneurship Committee, Anatoly Karpov is one of the biggest entusiasth of new bill. He explained: "the creation of a gambling zone in the Republic of Crimea will help attract additional investment in the region, create new jobs and replenish the revenue base of the regional budget, giving a precious financial boost to help make the newly added territory less dependent on Moscow."
Karpov mentioned that Crimea is expecting to get around $725,000,000 per year in taxes thanks to the legislation.
