Bwin.Party is pulling its business from grey market countries. On Friday, the site has sent out e-mails to its affiliates informing that it will no longer accept new players from 18 countries in the Europe and South America.
All new sign-ups will be blocked on April 30 and all affiliates cooperating with the poker room were requested to remove bwin.party marketing material by this date. However, there was also an information that all existing accounts will remain open and stay linked to affiliates.
The e-mail sent to affiliates states as following:
"Please note that due to commercial reasons, as of 30.04.2013, we will no longer be accepting new traffic for any of our brands from the following countries:
Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and the Ukraine. The reason for the the ban on those countries was explained as a “commercial reasons.” However, it's easy to see that the site is pulling not only from markets where gambling is either illegal or not regulated, but also from small countries where it is probably not too profitable for the poker room to operate (considering support, marketing, license costs).
