Ludovic "Cutsss" Lacay has won EPT9 Sanremo – and his first major title - for €744,910 . The 27-year-old French pro’s full house ended Canadian Jason Lavallee’s hopes of victory after a brief heads up battle. Lavallee, 26, from Quebec, had been the narrow chip leader at the start of the final, which took place in Casino Sanremo’s elegant theatre.

A total of 797 players from 52 countries entered the €5,300 Main Event, creating a total prize pool of €3,865,450.

Lacay has been playing EPTs since Season 4 and has already cashed in nine, including eighth place at EPT5 Warsaw and 21st at the EPT6 Grand Final. Before Sanremo, his best live cash – and the result that first put him in the spotlight outside Europe - was 16th in the 2009 WSOP Main Event for just over $500,000.

Regarding his win in Sanremo, Lacay said: "It feels pretty good. It's the accomplishment, getting there and beating all the players. When you start a tournament you aim for the first place but you never expect it. Here I am, it's amazing."

A member fo Tlpoker.pl, Adrian "piachu01" Piasecki finished 7th and took home €96,000 .

Final payouts:

    1 Ludovic Lacay €744,910
    2 Jason Lavallee €538,089
    3 Artem Litvinov €283,000
    4 Angelo Recchia €225,000
    5 Jason Tompkins €171,000
    6 Micah Raskin €132,000
    7 Adrian Piasecki €96,000
    8 Ismael Bojang €65,450

In EPT Sanremo side events, EPT London champion Benny Spindler won the €10k High Roller for €253,000. Finnish player Vesa Leikos won the €2k NL side event for €210,000 after outlasting a 450-strong field. French veteran Roger Hairabedian beat Italian Team PokerStars Pro Max Martinez to take down the €990 Heads-up tourney while Team PokerStars SportStar Fatima Moreira de Melo won the Ladies Invitational TV tourney.

We're like that sad little town that spawned a big-time football player and we always cheer for him but the guy never visits his town and has completely forgotten about us.

RIP Cutsssssss.

i watch the whole stream and i thought actually lavallee played better than him. Cutss was on a crazy rush and hits so many hands, the ft played pretty much itself for him. And lavallee folding aces on the ft was an interesting moments too !

It was a production mistake that showed AA for Lavallee (but he had AK) when the italian 3bet shoved with A7 and Lacay isolated with JJ

BadGoNe   France. Oct 13 2012 06:33. Posts 1033

never ever would he fold Aces if he had the chance to bust 2 players (including the most dangerous opponent he was facing aka Cutsss) and get 90% of the chips in play HU vs the remaining nit.
