The relaunch of FullTiltPoker is, without a doubt, the most awaited poker event of the 2012. Thousands of players are waiting to access their funds as soon as PokerStars, who now owns FullTiltPoker, make it possible for players to login on the poker room.
However, there are still some sceptical people that, despite all good news coming in the last few weeks, are afraid that they will never get their money back. Just today we found out about one more thing that can only prove them wrong and make everyone with any cash on FTP sleep calmly until 6th of November, when the poker room is supposed to relaunch: FullTiltPoker was granted a gaming license in Isle of Man!
Just few hours ago we were informed that the Rational Group, operator of both FullTilt and PokerStars, announced officially that the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission has granted FullTiltPoker an online gaming license. Previously, FTP was licensed by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), but the license was revoked in September 2011.
In a press release, Steve Brennan, Chief Executive Officer of the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission said: “The Gambling Supervision Commission is confident that Full Tilt Poker will safeguard the interests of its players and adhere to the strict policies and procedures governing Isle of Man licensed gaming companies. Full Tilt Poker’s application was strengthened by the fact that their new owners and management team are known to us and have an impeccable record of compliance with the Isle of Man’s regulatory requirements.”

That was covered by their representative, if I recall correctly in FTP relaunch FAQ (here: http://www.liquidpoker.net/poker-forum/1055487/FTP_relaunch:_long_FAQ.html).
FTP informed that all withdrawals that were initialized but never went through will be returned. |

I'm fairly sure it's something of a fuck up to get a gaming license there. Winnings on a site registered on that site will not be free from taxation for Swedish players, and I'm reasonably sure the same would be true for people in Finland and probably a few other countries since the Isle of Man is not a part of the EEA or whatever the English term for it might be.

That is 100% correct, and one of the reasons why PokerStars moved to Malta license lately. I would expect them to move some time soon as well, maybe they didn't made it in time and wanted to be sure that there is no delay in relaunch schedule.
Just a wild guess, time will tell. |

btw, check your spam boxes, FTP sent out a new batch of e-mails regarding the relaunch today.
Most are just standard information but few people are still being asked for documents (I guess it's the case if they didn't respond to previous e-mail or still have substantial amount of money on FTP), so I'm informing. |
