He has done it, despite the opinion that his era of domination is long gone. Phil Hellmuth captured his 13th gold WSOP bracelet! He won WSOPE Main Event in Cannes, France and by defeating Sergii Baranov in the heads-up he will also take home a €1,022,376 first prize.
This is Phils 13th overall gold World Series of Poker bracelet and second one won this year. Phil also is the first person ever to win both a WSOP and WSOPE Main Event. Lifetime, he cashed in 95 WSOP events and made it to 49 final tables.
Hellmuth has also overtaken Antonio Esfanidari in the WSOP Player of the Year ladder-board, and can now only lose to Greg Merson. However, Merson would need to win the WSOP Main Event later in October to make it happen.
Hellmuth commented after his win: "This was the best poker I've ever played in my life, I know that for certain. I played as good as I can possibly play, caught a few breaks and here I am. I'm very thankful. I know people don't expect me to use this word, but I'm humbled. I'm trying to figure out if this is real or not."
WSOPE €10,450 Main Event final results:
1st Phil Hellmuth €1,022,376
2nd Sergii Baranov €632,592
3rd Stephane Albertini €423,360
4th Joseph Cheong €292,320
5th Christopher Brammer €207,648
6th Paul Tedeschi €149,184
7th Stephane Girault €108,864
8th Jason Mercier €84,672

Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game

I thought he played pretty well 3-handed, except he kept limping the fking button which was kind of interesting since everyone was playing so scared of him lol.

Anybody able to find a way to rewatch the final table? only thing i found is on espn3 and thats not really an option for me.
I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time
