The US Department of Justice has filed a new amendment to the complaint against three biggest poker operators. With this action, the DOJ is targeting finances of Howard Lederer, Ray Bitar, Chris Ferguson and Rafe Furst.
The Second Amended Complaint in details shows what happened to the $137,000,000 that was paid out the FullTilt Poker owners from players money.
Citing a slew of statutes including the Wire Act, The Illegal Gambling Business Act and now the Travel Act, the DOJ is calling the distributions proceeds of an illegal enterprise and therefore subject to forfeiture: "There is probable cause to believe that the Defendant Properties constitute, or are traceable to property used in illegal gambling businesses."
The US Department of Justice is looking to recover following amount of money:
$42,500,000 from Howard Lederer
$42,000,000 from Chris Ferguson
$40,800,000 from Ray Bitar
$11,700,000 from Rafe Furst Howard Lederer, according to the US Department of Justice, used company money to fund his personal banking accounts, retirement funds, mortgage payments and the purchase of various high value goods, including a Maserati, four Audis and a 1965 Shelby Cobra. Ray Bitar is supposed to buy two homes with the company money. There are no details at how Chris Ferguson or Rafe Furst used their money at the moment. |

putting them behind bars might be as, if not more important than recovering the money long term for online poker |

I don't see any mention of prison anywhere, just that these guys are gonna be bankrupt.
Capitalism rarely sends it's finest to prison, just makes them start again. |

If I were to take a time machine and go back to 2006; where my younger self was watching this guy that looks homeless with long hair, throw a deck of cards through carrots and dancing around like a faggot in ESPN segments during the WSOP; and tell myself that this person would steal 40 million dollars of player's money, I'd be astonished. |

I remember this one show with Howard Lederer and his sister whos name I forgot where he said something like "most guys think im a huge nit but in fact im a total maniac so im using my nit image to just go maniac and own the table " and his sister was like " yeah he really is " and then I saw him in some shows... and now I see this ... if you are stealing people's money at least dont be a huge pussy on camera :/
And what the fuck did Ferguson use the money for ? I bet he shops in stores like Lidl & Aldi ( not sure what USA's equivallent is ) and his most valuable asset is a a shampoo
I wonder if they covered their asses from a legal point of view to not be able to get sued with prison charges but just bankrupcy and like a ban from operating a gambling site or something |

They won't go to prison for more than a year unless they're really really really unlucky. |
