Ira Rubin sentenced to three years in prison
Ira Rubin, one of the eleven people indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice on Black Friday case, was sentenced to three years in prison. He also has to forfeit $5mln he made. Rubin was a payment processor for PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker, which made it possible for those companies to allow American players. Rubin faced a maximum sentence of up to 55 years. Once Ira Rubin is out of prison, he cannot participate in any business occupation related to payment processing or financial services.
“You are an unreformed conman and fraudster,” Judge Lewis Kaplan told Rubin in Manhattan on Thursday, according to Bloomberg. Kaplan added that Rubin's actions were a “brazen” defiance of U.S. law and that “a significant sentence is necessary to protect the community.”
Both the prosecution and defense had called for a sentence between 18 and 24 months, but the judge explained that he "believes such a sentence would serve to discourage future crime."
Zynga looking for real money poker software
eGaming Review (EGR) reported earlier this week that Zynga company has “opened a tender for a real money poker platform with several online gaming developers".
During the open tender, the bidders compete for business via sealed bidding. Once the bidding is closed and the winner is chosen, all the bids are revealed to the public.
At the moment there are three networks fighting to provide Zynga with the software: iPoker, Microgaming and OnGame.
Zynga commented their motives earlier this year:
"We build games and experiences that our players want and love. Zynga Poker is the world’s largest online poker game with more than 7 million people playing every day and over 30 million each month. We know from listening to our players that there’s an interest in the real money gambling market. We’re in active conversations with potential partners to better understand and explore this new opportunity."

They have the biggest poker player base on the internet, exceeding even PokerStars. They operate on play money only though
Zynga is basically a company that provides games for facebook, so Zynga Poker = pretty much facebook poker. |

Zynga needs to do poker or they will fail. They get about 20% (revenue?) from just the play money they do. They even had a minute discussion on CNBC. |
