PokerStars MicroMillions II are finished!
PokerStars player ‘SoyDelGlobo’ has won the MicroMillions II Main Event, scooping the first prize of $157,218.68 after finishing first from a field of 65,063. The Argentine took the lion’s share of a huge $1,302,260 prize pool after defeating ‘cokars’ heads-up in the $22 buy-in tourney.
The Main Event was just one of 100 micro-stakes tournaments held over the past 11 days, which has seen dozens of recreational poker players turn a few dollars into thousands. Across the festival there were 1,288,221 entries, which generated a total MicroMillions II series prize pool of $7,966,209.85, surpassing the initial $5 million guarantee by almost $3 million.
As for country statistics, Russia was the most active and successful country in the series with 202,302 entries, 129 final table appearances, 18 event wins and 22,863 cashes totalling $955,250.80.
Poker Hall of Fame roster to be increased by 2 female players
In August the Poker Hall of Fame will be officially increase by addition of two female players. Joanne “J. J.” Liu and long-time poker industry professional Kathy Raymond will be the newest addition to the honourable list of most respectable and recognizable names in the history of poker. The ceremonies for the 2012 induction are set for August 31 at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas.
Joanne “J. J.” Liu has been a part of the poker world since 1990s, slowly earning her respect. She has 25 cashes in World Series of Poker tournaments, and ten cashes in WPT series that include two final tables. Her lifetime tournament earnings are $2.6 million.
Kathy Raymond works in the poker industry since a decade already, running some of the biggest poker rooms in the America. She is currently the Director of Poker Operations at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
