I much prefer raising his flop minbet and attempting to get it in

DragOn_   Canada. Dec 31 2014 14:20. Posts 214

so do you think hes reraising and shoving with lower sets or flush draws>?

devon06atX   Canada. Dec 31 2014 14:30. Posts 5458

Absolutely. Even stuff like ad5x, ad7x. And sometimes a whole lot worse. Can't assume your opponents are any good until you have a reason to believe so.

Not having a full stack + his flop min raise would lead me to believe he's not all that great.

which would also lead to the belief that he doesnt reraise without a nutted hand right..? bad players reraise less, not more unless they are really short in my experience

I can't possibly predict what a bad player would do.

But I do get what you're saying. I just would much prefer to get it in on the flop when you're at worst 35% equity (and most likely bigtime +ev), as opposed to dicking around and letting villain see turn and river for cheap.

You simply calling his minbet on the flop effectively made it possible for villain to see turn and river for ~$1.23. That is not good to do on monotone flops when you hold top set. Not good at all.

Are you assuming no stats? This guy was 9/4/2 with a small hand sample, which leads me to believe he only reraises with the nuts. I shouldve included the stats earlier, my bad.

If he already has the nuts, seeing the turn and river is better for me than him. Its more likely that I draw out on him than him reraising with Ad or Kd in his hand and drawing out on me, I have more outs than he does. It seems like youre saying its more likely he has an incomplete flush or a lower set than the nuts and I should get it in

yes, it's more likely he has a flush draw rather than the flush, like it would be more unlikely for someone to hold a Q on a QQx flop.

Diversify or fossilize!

no shit, but if someone RAISES THE FLOP on a QQx flop, its likely they have a Q or a pocket pair of whatever the x is, especially if hes really nitty like my villian

also depends on their aggression factor
but you're right in some aspect, they could have a pocket pair or the straggler, or they could have ace high, or a flush draw, or a straight draw.

If he is 9/4/2 then he has only a few made flushes in his range +bottom set+medium set+ weird played AdKx,QdQx,AxAd,AxAx.
Since you wont fold your top set ever here, its better to get it in early, before another diamond comes and kills the action.
You miss a shitload of value here in the longterm, while still having decent equity vs made flushs if you get it in on the flop or the turn.

You only want to choose your line vs bluff heavy opponents, which he clearly isnt.
