Edit: I'm very angry and irritated about being $700 below EV this month. It sure sucks the fun out of the game. Still have learned a ton this month and over the past 2.5 months since I started playing poker again. Going to hit my 60k hand goal this month and that's whilst working and doing a master's. Won't be quitting any time soon, I'll try to bitch less but honestly no promises.

You should try flipping a coin a few thousand times and see how often it goes 30+ one way or another..

I'm obviously aware of standard deviations. In a casual career of 900k hands I've never run above EV, which is why its aggravating.

Also that example is not at all a good one. Flipping a coin over the long term is MUCH MUCH MUCH different than losing with 60-70%+ constantly. In fact, given the math, that probably puts me in the 3rd standard deviation or as an outlier.

Also, we don't have 1000 all-in moments, that's why they're so volatile.

In all honestly it doesn't matter. I'm still up today, still playing well, I just like to complain because I'm currently $700 or 28 buy-ins under EV in my last 40k hands.

My focus is entirely on improving small spots in my game, and making sure I'm taking hands to the turn before going for stacks when it's a superior line as compared to going in too light on flops earlier in the month. Regardless, I'm not monkey spazzing out on the actual tables. I just like to type angry words on a dead forum lol.

The difference between 50% and 65% isn't really something that's detectable by the human brain o.o And from a math perspective, it's really not as different as you'd like to believe. That's why these things always feel far more unfair than they actually are.

But if being an outlier gets you through the day...

fwiw, I'm just teasing. Teasing people is what gets me through a day of playing PLO.

well...that, and alcohol.
