When i raised that 0.54 i wanted it to kinda look like a semmi-bluffand when he shoved , i thought he was going for ace high with like AK or smth.
Any suggestions?

just out of curiosity, how many times similiar to this happened to you?

It doesnt happen very often, just move on. Nothing you can do here. Keep playing your sets like this. You probably don't have to raise that much on flop, but it's fine.

-Raise pre to 0.06, never open limp these hands
-check raise smaller to 0.20 ish, there's no point for this huge sizing and you may even get some Ax to fold, or rather don't check raise at all but just bet each street and get max value from Ax.

No matter what you do here though money goes in at some point and you'll lose.

Look at his hand and equities, what do you expect him to have here, uno cards? - TianYuanLast edit: 10/04/2014 12:33

To be honest, im extremly confused, since i set up my fpdb i see people with 30-40 vpip basicly playing out hands till showdowns and they ALWAYS have JJ+ ,Ax im not joking they play their hands out versus some random everytime till showdown and they just always happen to have the right hands. And after you see 2-3 guy getting eleminated like that, basicly as a newb i lose my courage to even go in the same pot with that guy.

sometimes im even afraid to play out an AA vs a high vpip guy cuz he just happens to play out everyhand the same way and having the right hand whatsoever.Dont get me wrong im not getting mad at this while a session is going on bet when i review my hands afterward i feel really down about the amount of miss reads leading to lucky rivers, or the missing ability of folding a hand with too much money in it , and then ending up drawing out the enemy on river.

on the other hand , i hade a great time playing in the 20k free roll tournament till the last 1700 out of 19000 or smth where the last hour or so was really enjoyable.

If you haven't already, get the program equilab and take a hard look at a 30-40% vpip.

Think about all the hands in your opponent's range, and all the hands in yours. At low stakes you can win by simply playing solid poker, value betting well.

88 is a good hand, there is value in a preflop raise. People can call with worse hands, you can flop a set, you can win the pot preflop, etc.
